East Indian Rosewood is the most common back and side timber used on Acoustic Guitars, particularly factory made guitars. Here at Ellis Guitars we like to introduce our customers to the many other timbers that are used by Luthiers around the world. Some are renowned for their sound, others for their extremely beautiful figure. These timbers are not always available all the time due to conservation, government export restrictions and general availability.

Ellis Guitars offer a range of soundboard timbers, for your acoustic guitar top. The Classic Sitka Spruce is available in traditional grain and bearclaw figure, Vintage Adirondack Spruce, Fingerstyle tonewood Engelmann Spruce, and the European range of Alpine / Italian Spruce, Carpathian Spruce and German / European Spruce. Mastergrade is available when in stock as are aaaa grade and aaa grade when Mastergrade is not available.
