MYRTLE
Nothofagus Cunninghamii Ellis Guitars uses Myrtle as tonewood tops on their custom acoustic stompbox. This timber is an exotic wood from Tasmania, Australia.
Myrtle from Tasmania, (Nothofagus Cunninghamii), belongs to the same family as the beeches of Europe.
It is found in the wet forests across Tasmania, more frequently in the north west and west of the State.
Providing conditions are moist and sheltered, the tree flourishes from sea level to the tree line.
Tasmanian Myrtle is primarily golden brown and brown in colour, the best is highly figured. Tasmanian Tiger Myrtle
has black streaks running along the grain, and is very spectacular.
TASMANIAN MYRTLE, Nothofagus Cunninghamii, is used as guitar inlay material on Ellis
custom acoustic guitars, and as Stompbox tonewood on the Ellis custom acoustic stompbox.
